What's On

CEO Graeme Hamilton speaking at the Capricornia Congress 2007Birds Australia holds several regular events over the course of the year.  Most of these events have been held for several decades and are part of BA's history in bringing together avian researchers, conservationists, educators, our members, and other parts of the community with a keen interest in Australia's birds. Naturally, all are welcome to any of our events.

The year begins with an event for our members and the broader conservation community called the Conservation Forum.  This event, traditionally known as Members Day, incorporates BA's Annual General Meeting (AGM), and is held in a different capital city in May of each year over two days. The second major event is the Congress & Campout, which has a more regional flavour, and rotates around the country from year to year.  It is held anytime between September to November depending upon the region. The Congress is a full day of presentations from different exciting speakers, and the Campout is a range of outings, field trips, and campouts around the region hosting the event, which extends into the following week.  The Australasian Ornithological Conference (AOC) is the last event on our Calendar. Held every two years, this conference brings together researchers and conservationists from the world over to present and share their latest explorations into birds and their habitats.

If you are looking for something locally --a field trip, research, conservation or educational activities you can get involved in, or simply a short stint of bird watching  please browse our Calendar or visit your Regional Group's web page.
