Birds are amazing creatures that have long captured the human imagination. Birds soar while we remain earth-bound, they come in a dazzling variety of colours and sizes, sing in a multitude of voices, and for many of us, birds are our only regular point of contact with the natural world.

Australians are incredibly lucky to share our country with some of the most remarkable birds on the planet- lyrebirds with their amazing ability to impersonate not only other birds, but dogs barking, babies crying, even the sound of a tractor starting up; bowerbirds that build a 'bachelor pad' up to two metres high and then decorate the walls to impress the ladies; Palm Cockatoos that fashion their own drumsticks and rhythmically bang away on hollow logs to make a noise that can be heard miles away.

And there are around 800 other species spread across all habitats and locations, each with their own unique story. If you want to learn about any of them, there is no better place to turn to than Birds Australia.
