Funded through the federal government's Natural Heritage Trust, the ‘Orange-bellied Parrot: defining and conserving key mainland habitat project’ is a multi year project which has been shedding light on the wintering habitat requirements of this critically endangered species.

The project is utilising a network of dedicated and skilled volunteers to search for the parrots on mainland south-eastern Australia and King Island. The overall aim is to identify what constitutes suitable and potential habitat for wintering OBPs, so we are then in a position to improve the protection and management of that habitat.
